What is The Seasons Mod 1.10, 1.9.4, 1.9, 1.8.9, 1.8, 1.7.10
The Seasons Mod adds 4 common-known traditional seasons to the existing game of Minecraft. The Seasons Mod is SMP-based, and all clients connected to a server running the mod will experience the same season. Basically, each season lasts for 7 days in Minecraft yet their durations can be configured per- world/dimension.
When you create a new world or loading a world that hadn’t been loaded with this mod previously, then the world will generate somewhere in a random season.
In default, an overlay will emerge when transitioning normally from one season to another, but this can be disabled by the server (both for SSP and SMP).
It does not require a restart when switching between SSP and SMP.
Grasses, flowers, and saplings grow on grass blocks and get influenced by direct sunlight. Plants added in other mod are also under effection. The world is slightly cooler than usual.
All vanilla rain will turn to thunderstorms, and some frozen biomes will have rain (thunderstorms) instead of snow and the world is warmer than normal. The rain of summer will kill many plants growing in Spring. Wheat will grow about 50% faster than in any other seasons when receiving enough heat. During the summer and when get exposed to the sun, players get hurt constantly from dehydration and burns, but this can be minimized by wearing light armors and being wet. Players will see the world with a red tint after receiving this damage.
(Dehydration/burns and faster crop growth are currently disabled, pending the port to Minecraft 1.7)
The world changes colors to browns and oranges, as the plants get ready for the winter. Crops sometimes drop more produce.
(Crop bonuses are currently disabled, pending the port to Minecraft 1.7)
The rain during winter season will turn into snow (except in the warmest of biomes). In cold biomes such as Tundras, Taigas, and Ice Deserts, the temperature drops even further, resulting frostbite if not covered enough. Being wet quickens the damage, as the water freezes (hypothermia). Players see the world with a blue tint and are slowed after receiving this damage, but both lessen over time.
(Frostbite/hypothermia is currently disabled, pending the port to Minecraft 1.7)
