What is Freerunner’s Mod
Did it ever bother you to tower to reach high places? Or you have getting tired wandering a giant mountain? One day you locked yourself out of your house and want to get in from the roof? Do not worry? These can be achieved with Freerunner’s Mod.
Freerunner’s Mod adds the feature of freerunning to the game which was purely inspired from the title game “Assassin’s Creed”.
The standard key to freerun is the left control key.
When you are on the ground, hold the freerun key, then start walking, now you will walk 20% faster than usual (can be configured in the config file).
If you change to walk to a wall literally, it will turn to a “wallrun” and if possible, you’ll grab the edge of the block in front of you. This will occur when it meets the condition that the block in front of you is a different block or air.
Once you grabbed a ledge, you don’t have to hold the freerun key any more.
If there is another edge to hold on, you climb up by pressing the forward key, the backward key to climb down, the same for turning left and right.
If the block above the block you’re holding is air (or any other non collidable block), you’ll jump on that block.
When climbing on a wall, and having a block above your head, you jump backwards and grab the block above you automatically.
Some blocks allows you to climb all the time regardless of the block above. The blocks are the bookshelf, workbench, furnace, chest, dispenser, half step or double half step, stairs, sign and leaves, pistons and some other blocks.
Once on a ledge, you can perform a “backward eject”. Hold the freerun key, make sure you’re not moving, and simply press space (or the jump key selected in the options).
You can also perform a sideward eject by pressing the key for the desired direction.
If you’re falling from a high place, make sure you press the freerun and forward key. When you hit the ground you’ll perform a roll forwards and recieve half the damage.
Only holding the freerun key will also decrease the falling damage, but less.
You could also jump on a mob, which will give you no falling damage.
Tip: Don’t land on creepers.
While running up a wall, press jump to kick the wall and jump away from it in opposite direction! With holding the left and right keys you can determine your direction.
Blocks and Items:
The wooden and stone edge
The wooden and stone edge, extra edges to hold on. You can place them on a wall like ladders, they can also be a form of decoration.
The haystacks is the best choice for jumping down quickly! When walking through this block, you’ll move slower than usual.
Horizontal wooden bars to balance you on high places. You can place them on next to another piece of bar, to make it longer.
The climbing glove
Climbing up a tall wall and notice the next edge is a bit too high?
Don’t worry if you have your climbing glove on!
Keep pressing the forward and freerun key, and then press space to jump up, and grab the ledge two blocks above you!
